Christian David Ervick

December 13, 1991 - October 2, 2020

On Friday, October 2, 2020 our beloved Christian David Ervick, passed away peacefully at the age of 28 at Porter Adventist Hospital, Denver.

Christian was born on December 13, 1991 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Patricia (Souders) and Gary Ervick.  Christian came into this world fighting as he was an ICU baby from the beginning. Christian was surrounded by love and his family and was at peace when he left our world to begin his new journey with God.

Christian brought such joy and love to all he knew. We were blessed to have 28 years with this bright, incredible young man. Christian was one of five close, loving siblings (the Fab Five) as well as the beloved boyfriend of Stephanie Degeyter, all of whom cherished every moment they spent with him.

Christian graduated from Mullen High School in 2010, where he was a three-year letter winner in Lacrosse and a three-year letter winner and captain of the Mullen Hockey team. Christian went on to attend the University of Colorado-Boulder Engineering Program. He was also a Brother of Theta Xi Fraternity.

Christian loved all sports, especially fly fishing with his dad, his brothers and friends. Christian was an avid reader and he loved and embraced his Norwegian heritage, especially Norse mythology. On Christian’s right arm/shoulder he had a tattoo of one raven and had planned to get a second raven symbolizing the Norse god Odin’s two ravens, Hugin (thought) and Munin (memory). (Two ravens sit on Odin’s shoulders and whisper all the news which they see and hear into his ear. He sends them out in the morning to fly around the whole world, and by breakfast they are back again. Thus, he finds out many new things and this is why Odin is called ‘raven-god’.)

Christian was our favorite waiter during his time at Carreli’s in Boulder. His warm and gentle spirit drew us in to recognize him as a sensitive and kind human being, a friend not just a waiter. He shared stories with us about his life, like his trepidation before his trip to meet his girlfriend’s parents and his great joy at the experience when he returned. We lost touch with him when he moved on to a new job.
We are so sorry for your loss of a wonderful young man. You are in our prayers.
