Claire Cecile Campbell

December 22, 1927 - August 18, 2020

Claire Cecile Campbell age 92 of Evergreen, CO passed away peacefully on August 18, 2020 at the Elk Run Assisted Living Community in Evergreen. Claire was born on December 22, 1927 to proud parents James J Reidy and Anita D. (Charpentier) Reidy in Holyoke, MA. She led a very active, full and rewarding life and has now left us to be with the Lord.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Vucich (Tom & son Peter) of Vail, CO, son Daniel Murphy(Shosh) of Colorado Springs, CO, siblings Janet Hayward of Chicopee, MA, Marie Fitzgerald of Palm Harbor, FL and Roger Reidy of Holyoke MA.

Claire was a homemaker and an active community member in St. Johnsbury, VT for many years and later became the owner of the Hilltop Motel in Newport, NH followed by ownership of The Factory Gift Stores of Ludlow, MA and Salem, NH. Claire’s longtime home for nearly fifty years was her beloved Vero Beach, FL. She was an active member of the ladies Vero Beach Red Hat Society and had numerous lady friends (The Gals) who were always on the go whether it be locally in Vero Beach or by traveling to other spots within the United States via car, tour bus or airplane. Claire often said how lucky she was to have such great friends who were always there for her as she was for them. One of Claire’s greatest gifts to her family and friends was her work ethic whereby she could out work those half her age. Even in her 80s she continued climbing ladders to hang wallpaper for friends “because it keeps me busy.”

There are no services planned at Claire’s request. The family would like to thank both Mt Evans Hospice of Evergreen and the Elk Run Assisted Living Community for their excellent care and comfort that they provided to both Claire and her family during this difficult period. They are truly the unsung heroes who provide so much to so many as life slowly comes to an end. In lieu of flowers, please consider a small donation to your favorite hospice or charity organization such as the Alzheimer Association

Thanks so much for your kind words. Your son, Paul, is a wonderful guy.
He picked us up at the airport when my Mom and I flew into Hartford on a hot August day. We were so happy to see him.He and Cheryl have done a great job with their girls….you must be very proud.

      Thank you, Megan
I so remember our last visit and the dinner we all enjoyed at Gill Street.
Your little boy wanted to go back to Florida with my Mom and he cried when he could not go. She felt loved by all of you. That reunion meant so much to her…me too. Thank you so much.

We’re very sorry for your loss. Claire’s sister, Janet Hayward, is our son’s Mother-in-law. We’ve met ‘Auntie’ Claire many times when she visited with Janet and made her famous apple pie. May memories of happier days help to ease the sadness that’s in your hearts.
    Deepest Condolences
