Jacqueline Marie (Willmes) Williams, a 59 year resident of Evergreen, passed away on December 29, 2018 at Collier Hospice Center, Wheat Ridge, CO at the age of 88 years and 8 months.
She was born in Hastings, Nebraska, on April 16, 1930 and graduated from Hastings High School. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Basil. They were married 67 years.
She, Basil and their son Randy, moved from Hastings to Aurora, CO in 1956. During weekend outings, they discovered the community of Evergreen, permanently relocating there in 1959, when Jackie was hired by ESCO. She worked for ESCO, as part of the office staff, for over 30 years. After retirement, she and Basil purchased their home and property on lower Bear Creek, where she resided until the time of her death.
Jackie and Basil were very involved in the Evergreen community, socializing with friends and participating in community activities. She was an avid race walker, winning two Silver Medals in the 1991 National Senior Olympics in Syracuse, New York. She loved her dog Coby, who now resides with her granddaughter and family in Greeley.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Basil in 2015, her parents Andrew and Elsie Willmes, sister Marcelline and husband Richard Lovell, an infant sister Kathleen Willmes, and brother in law and wife Hobart and Margaret Jean Williams.
She is survived by her son Randy (Susan) Williams of Nelson, Nebraska and New Braunfels, Texas, grandson Alan Williams of Brooklyn Park, MN, granddaughter Jamie (Jeff) Wood of Greeley, CO, great granddaughters Haley and Cadence Wood of Greeley, CO and one nephew, four nieces and good friends.
There was cremation and per Jackie’s request, no service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Evergreen Fire/Rescue, 1802 Bergen Parkway, Evergreen, CO 80439.
