Jesse Milnes

March 25, 1960 — January 7, 2021

Central City, Colorado

Beloved Jesse Milnes passed away peacefully on January 7, 2021 in Central City, Colorado.

A sometimes spicy and always entertaining storyteller, Jesse filled the rooms of  countless parties with laughter and warmed the hearts of all who met him.  He was handsome, charming and generous and brought his own brand of magic to every enterprise, including the Hooper Homestead Bed and Breakfast that he ran with his husband Richard (first year perfect 10 review score!) and the video department at King Soopers where, as he said, he worked for maybe two hours and talked for at least six about the next movie you just had to see.

Creative fun was Jesse’s shining strength.

His annual Christmas Caroling party was a coveted invitation that brightened his Northglenn neighborhood: even when the notes were flat, the spirit of fun was always on.   Halloween night sent the neighborhood kids into squeals when Jesse would jump out as a ghoul or rise from a coffin (that he bought off Craigslist) or offer a snickers bar as a groaning head-on-a-table.  He even scared an unsuspecting adult or two or more.

Athletic, but only as long as he could keep it fun, Jesse hiked, biked and ran the glorious hills of Colorado.  His friends at Outspokin cheered him to his first summit of Lookout Mountain and eventually to the Stonewall Century.  As Jesse would ride, tunes of Kelly Clarkson would blare from his iPhone and melt the heart of even the most pompous road cyclist.

Jesse’s children did him proud and were his great passion: Ashley with the same fire in her personality and the same gold in her heart , Stu with a gift of gab that  comes close (almost) to Jesse’s, Alex with an amazing artistic talent and Tyler whose love and skill with children he always admired.  He was thrilled to see each of his children have their own: Ashley and Raymond with Eve and James; Stu and Leslie with Indiana; Alex and Tina with Autumn and Ember; Tyler and Amanda with Aiden and Violet.

Jesse is survived by his husband, business and biking partner, Richard: the love of his life, who brought Jesse true love and untold happiness after so many years of searching.

Jesse is also survived by his siblings: Rick, Toni, Tracey, Casey, Corey, Carey and preceded in death by his sister, Nicky in May. A special place was held his heart for niece Shelley and Aunt Connie.
