(303) 674-7750 Helping During a Time of Loss

Matteson, Robert Carl

April 7, 1953 - January 27, 2017

Robert Carl Matteson–great dad, successful business man, and grill master extraordinaire–passed away peacefully at his home in Evergreen on January 27, 2017, at the age of 63.  He was the sonMattson Obit Photo NEWSPAPER of the late Dr. A. Reese Matteson and Ann Dusenbery Matteson. Born in Danville, Illinois, he attended Danville schools and graduated from Drake University in 1976 with a degree in English. After working in Des Moines, he moved to Denver and spent the next 20 years working in the concrete construction business and owning several other related businesses with his long time partners. After retirement from those endeavors, he pursued his love of being behind the wheel by driving a school bus for the Evergreen School District.  After five years, “Mr. Bob” officially retired, bought a Jeep and a travel trailer, learned to fly fish, packed up his dog Ike, and spent his summers visiting national parks throughout the West. His was definitely a life well lived.  Survivors include his two sons Anthony and Michael of Denver; his brother Richard (Nancy Morrison) of Westhampton, MA; and sister Joan Warrick (Bill) of Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Denver Art Museum, or the Evergreen Jazz Festival.Mattson Obit Photo

Bob, you will be missed. You leave this earth with a noticeable tear in the fabric that won’t be filled; but it’s in the hearts and eyes of your boys, and impact you made on my son Ben, that you won’t be forgotten. Your boys love you and you will continue to shine on us thru them. Just as Mary and I feel part of Anthony’s life you were part of Ben’s. These two were ultimately connected through their years of growing up together in both our families. Thanks for all you did, you were always there. You made a difference. We will miss you.

I’m very sad about Bob’s passing. He is Anthony’s dad. Ben & Anthony met in the neighborhood when they were 5 years old..awhile ago. The two of them came up with the “Bob Voice” I’m thankful that I got to know the kind, caring and thoughtful man. Anthony is a beautiful reflection of Bob. Rest in peace knowing Dave & Mary will always have Anthony in our hearts.
