Rebecca “Red” Owings

July 10, 1941 - June 14, 2019

  Rebecca (Red) Lawrence Owings, 77, of Colorado Springs, passed away at St. Francis Penrose Medical Center on June 14th, 2019 after a brief illness. Mrs. Owings was born on July 10, 1941 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to William and Mabel (Croxton) Rothrock.  She married J. R. Owings on July 22nd, 1959.  They raised a daughter and two sons.  During their 50 years of marriage, she lived in Germany and South Carolina. In 2011, she moved to Colorado.` Some of her favorite hobbies included reading, knitting, quilting, and needlepoint.

 She is survived by her sister Lauren Dick, daughter Rebecca (Rich) Letteri, son Ethan (Becky) Owings, and grandchildren John and Pruitt Oliver, Olivia Floyd, Kaylah, Rachel, Raimond, Sam, and Robert Owings, Tevin, Alek, and Eisik Dewyse. 

  She was preceded in death by William, Mabel, and William jr Rothrock, and Jay Owings. 

The service will be held Evergreen Memorial Park, Evergreen, Colorado.  The service affiliate will be Ethan Owings. 

  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Halos For Heroes at (chicf.thankyou4caring.org)  The family of Rebecca (Red) Owings wishes to express our heart felt gratitude to the Doctors, Nurse Practitioner (Palliative Care), Nurses, CNA’s, and all the staff on the 5th floor who showed so much genuine love, compassion, and support to both Rebecca and her family during this time.
