It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alvin O. Loffer, who passed away due to some health complications on June 1st, 2023 in Englewood Colorado. He was a devoted husband to Donna, who he married on June 21st, 1972. Alvin was born on April 23rd, 1948 in Denver Colorado and grew up in the local community.
In his youth, Alvin pursued his love of fishing, which continued throughout his life. Although he often fished alone, he always saw it as an opportunity to connect with himself and nature.
Alvin bravely served his country as an Army Veteran and completed three tours in Vietnam as a dog handler. His military service demonstrated the deep love he had for his country and fellow human beings. After serving in the Army, Alvin worked as an equipment operator for Jefferson County roads and bridges and took great pride in overcoming any difficulties that arose.
Alvin’s personality was one of kindness and loyalty to his family above all else. He dedicated himself fully to raising his sons and cherished every moment spent with them. Furthermore, he adored his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, proudly showing talking about them whenever the chance came up.
Despite having many good qualities, it is undeniable that fly fishing was Alvin’s greatest passion outside of family life. His love for the sport was seen by everyone around him when he talked about nothing but it.
Alvin has left behind a legacy that will live on through his memory. Not only did he touch the lives of everyone who knew him personally; his dedication to hard work, love for family and country should be celebrated by all who followed it.
He is survived by Donna - his loving wife; their four sons — each uniquely gifted and compassionate; ten grandchildren- each amazing individuals- who have inherited their grandfather's charms; fifteen great-grandchildren who will be lucky to have his legacy as their example.
We would like to say that he was one of the rarest people that touched us all and we hope his soul finds eternal peace. Alvin’s death is a great loss to both those who knew him and the community in which he lived and worked. He will never be forgotten.
