Carole Zablocki, 91, of Evergreen, Colorado, passed away March 26, 2023 in the company of her sons, Craig and Curtis, and dear friend Gloria.
Carole was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on February 15, 1932. There she grew up in a loving house with her mother, grandparents, and sister. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1954 to become a school teacher.
After working a summer job in Yellowstone National Park, Carole fell in love with the Rocky Mountain West and moved to Denver to teach physical education and health. In Denver she met Charlie Zablocki - a strapping geophysicist from New York. They shared a love of dancing and immediately fell in love. They married on February 13, 1958 in Denver and moved to Evergreen in 1969. There they raised three children - Christine, Craig and Curtis.
Charlie’s job took the family to various locations with assignments to Hawaii, Washington DC and Saudi Arabia, and eventually returning to Evergreen. Carole was always a curious explorer and continued traveling throughout her life.
Tragedy struck the family when Carole’s only daughter, Christine, was killed in 1986. Charlie passed away in 2002.
Carole found solace with her deep network of close friends and in the mountains, hiking and cross-country skiing and breathing the cool alpine air.
She is survived by her sons Craig and Curtis, daughter-in-law Jill, and grandchildren Charles, Owen, and Dexter.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park (In the barn) on Wednesday, April 12 at 11:00 AM followed by a reception.
Memorial donations can be made to Jefferson County Open Space.
