Donald Ralph Young- May 15, 1946 – December 5, 2021
After a two-year battle with his health, Donald died peacefully at his home in Denver surrounded with love, ease and grace.
Born in Rumford Maine to Richard Thurston Young and Alma Mills Young, Don is survived by his daughter, Kelsie Young-Ybarra, his two yellow Labrador retrievers Moose and Moxie, and many a person who regularly sought his counsel. Donald leaves a legacy of recovery in many ways both within his family dynamic and within the inner and outer communities of anonymous recovering souls. His favorite saying was “The longest distance any man can travel is the 12 inches between his head and his heart”.
Many reached their hearts with his guidance.
Don was a devout athlete through his entire life. He loved competition growing up at Fryburg Academy and in high school at Gould Academy. He would continue his devotion with, softball, running, skiing and golfing through his post-secondary education and most of his adult life.
Don was a lover of country and served her well in the United States Army. He took a lot of joy in mowing his lawn and maintaining his wonderful gardens and pond. His green thumb is still very much alive on his estate in Denver which is one of the most pristine properties in his neighborhood. He loved Maine in peak fall season, he loved football, he loved to travel, he loved his sales clients, he loved his tenants, and he of course loved his women. Don truly lived.
People can pay their respects for Don on the 19th of December at The Barn @ Evergreen Memorial Park, thebarnatemp.com or on Zoom the details of which are available at www.forevermissed.com/donald-r-young Services begin at 12:30pm SHAHP Mountain Standard Time.
