I’ve had a wonderful life. I was born September 23, 1936 to a great mother and father, Birdsall & Opal Young. I grew up with seven siblings, Ralph Young, Lorraine Young-Perry, Lovernne Young-Brown, Fay Young-Axsom, Ila Young-Miller, Birdsall Young Jr., and Vernon Young. We had a fun life on the farm southeast of Akron, Colorado. At 18, I left the farm to attend Colorado Women’s College in Denver. I received my degree when CWC became a four-year college and received a business management degree in 1981. In 1982 I had breast cancer and had a mastectomy but was cured. I’ve had 3 wonderful men that loved me. Robert Whisman married from January 27, 1957, to February 19, 1997, when he died of melanoma cancer; Edwin Piper married October 27, 2001, to January 23, 2002; Sheldon Fertman companion and best friend from March 2004 to March 18, 2023 (19 years). I’ve travelled all over the world and have been on all continents except for Antarctica. I’ve had two wonderful sons, Ronald (Nancy) & Donald (Cathie); seven grandchildren; Dexter, Windee, Dillon, Dustin, Cassi, Alissa, and Amber; six great grandchildren, Duncan, Beckett, Sierra, Benson, Josiah, and Scarlett. I’ve painted pictures since 1980 and it’s been a blessing and therapy all these years. I also loved to walk and hike, play bridge, mah jongg, and dance. My faith and my Lord comforted me through the loss of my dear men.
It’s been quite a life!
