Kathy (Sati) Carpenter
1958 - 2023
Kathy Carpenter passed away suddenly on Thursday January 19th, 2023. Though her life ended far too soon, Kathy had a life full of good things like the family she loved, and her love of the ocean, mountains, and nature. She loved interacting with a wide array of people and having many friends and adventures. The last name Carpenter is the 231st most common name in the U.S. (per the 2010 census), but Kathy was not a common person at all. Her wonderful uniqueness was recognized by all who knew her. It’s therefore appropriate that in her later years she took the name Sati, which seemed to fit her character so well.
She was born to Chris Carpenter on February 5th, 1958 in Southern California and lived there until moving to Colorado in 1970. She resided in Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Boulder, and then Evergreen in the beautiful mountain house on Pine Drive that she loved.
Sati/Kathy is survived by her Mom, her son, Michael, and siblings Lisa, Gail, Kenny, and Jimmy. She is also survived by her beloved labradoodle, India.
Kathy poured her heart and love into her son, Michael. They shared the deepest bond that will transcend time and space. She worked two jobs at times so that Michael could attend a private Christian school and was always his best friend. A great Mom. Kathy’s bond with her mom Chris was also extremely special. Throughout the years they loved and supported each other in ways too many to count.
Kathy had a great eye and skill with nature photography and captured great pictures during walks with her dog and frequent trips into nature for the hiking she enjoyed so much. She especially loved photographing birds, with eagles holding a special place in her heart and camera lens.
Sati/Kathy loved simple, earthy, jewelry, and she made beautiful malas and bracelets. She collected stones and beautiful art, loved music, and loved to laugh and have fun.
Sati also had a love of cars - the favorites that she had in her younger days included a ‘69 Firebird and a Camaro Z28. She loved hot springs and quiet times but also loved to laugh and have fun sharing good times with others. Sati was a firecracker at heart and she was always fun to be around; she really did live life to the fullest. Hers was a bright and loving spirit that attracted people to her. She will be missed by the many people she touched and knew on her journey through a life well lived.
There will be a celebration of Sati’s life on Feb 5th, which is also her birthday. We have so much to honor and celebrate.
