Kevin R. Carter, 50, [Evergreen, CO] - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Carter, a beloved husband, father, and friend to many, on October 14, 2024. Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Melanie, and their two children, Amber and Autumn.
Kevin was born on April 4, 1974, in Silver Spring, MD. He attended Springbrook High School where he excelled in running and academics. Kevin later made his home in Evergreen, Colorado, where he lived with his family, surrounded by the beauty and outdoors he so loved.
Kevin was a man of boundless energy, driven by a deep passion for life, which was reflected in his love for multiple sports, competing in each of them at the highest possible level. Kevin soared through life with a sense of freedom, joy and enthusiasm that inspired those around him.
More than his love for adventure, Kevin was known for his unwavering kindness and generosity and his love of his family. He was a friend to everyone he met, always eager to help, whether by sharing his time, his expertise, his leadership, or simply his warmth and humor. His community and friends remember him as someone who never hesitated to lend a hand, offering support with a smile and making everyone around him feel valued. His devotion to his family and his daughters was evident in his daily life. Kevin loved to multitask - helping Team Carter train for X-country races or cyclocross rides while doing projects around the house all while watching the weather for his next flight at Lookout Mountain.
Kevin leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a spirit of adventure that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His mother, father and three sisters and brother find peace in hearing the many “Kevin Stories” on social media from fellow pilots, triathletes, mountain biking community and friends around the world.
Kevin’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 8 at the Evergreen Lake House [29612 Upper Bear Creek Rd, Evergreen, CO 80439] from 2-5pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help support the Carter family through the GoFundMe that has been established to honor Kevin - https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-kevin-carters-family-in-their-time-of-need
Kevin, you will live on through the ways people choose to live and behave based on the lessons they learned from you. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
