Melissa Dawn Stucky, 52, of Denver, Colorado joined the big book club in the beyond on February 1st, 2024. Melissa graduated from East High School in Wichita, Kansas in 1990. She earned a BA in 1993, a BS in Elementary Education in 1993, an MS in Special Education in 1997, and an MS in Library Science in 2004. During her time in Lawrence, Kansas, she worked as a Gifted Facilitator and later a Librarian for Lawrence Public Schools. She also served as district director for the Kansas Association of School Librarians. Most recently she worked as an Instructional Coach at Bradford Schools in the JeffCo school system, where she taught teachers how to teach (and that’s super meta). Over the years Melissa quilted enough to span the range of the Grand Canyon. She didn’t like weeding too much but she dug on gardening. Melissa volunteered, tutored, did yoga, took many hikes, biked, traveled as much as she could, and loved to spend time with her wonderful friends and family. She read a metric ton of books. As if all of this isn’t enough, she also became a yoga instructor and did that all over Denver (sometimes with cats). Melissa is survived by husband Jason Gordon, cats Klaus and Mitzi, mother Mary Ford, brother Matthew Stucky, father Rene Stucky, sisters in-law Hollybel Eddy, Ive Rose Eddy Sell, and Melanie Goldberg, nieces Ruth and Shay, and nephew Declan. In addition to the preceding list of accomplishments and endeavors she will also be remembered for her inclusion in the “Top Ten Best People To Have Ever Lived” list and for tolerating her husband’s infernal racket like a saint.
