On April 24, 2023, we lost our husband, father, and grandfather, Scott Alan Hatch. Scott was born on April 26, 1952, the first child to proud parents Charlotte and Edgar (Bud) Hatch. Raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Scott grew up with his five siblings, Heidi, Kurt, Darris, Todd, and half-sister Sharon. Scott was a proud graduate of Nicolet High School, the University of Colorado, and Southwestern University School of Law. He was a successful entrepreneur and the founder of The Center for Legal Studies. His career was highlighted by many accomplishments, including serving as editor for his award-winning law school newspaper, authoring paralegal curriculum, and co-writing books with his wife, Lisa.
It was while teaching a law school prep course in 1987 that he met his wife, Lisa Zimmer. Scott is survived by his wife, Lisa, his ex-wife Caren Smith, his children, Alison and her husband Dan, Zach and his wife Miarra, and Zoe and her husband John. He is predeceased by his son Andrew. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Paige, Ryan, and Jalen. Scott loved his family; he enjoyed traveling, eating in restaurants, snacking on Red Vines, reading Mad Magazine, watching old Seinfeld episodes, rooting for the Packers (and all other Wisconsin sports teams), listening to classic Rock and Roll, and caffeinating via Pepsi with a glass of ice on the side. Scott’s charisma, humorous stories, and devotion to others will be missed by all who knew him. Scott’s legacy lives on in the love that he extended to all.
