Sean Christian Wood, 59, passed away on May 6, 2024, in Evergreen, Colorado. Born on November 26, 1964, in Tacoma, Washington, Sean devoted his life to his family, career, and community, leaving an indelible mark through his numerous endeavors.
Sean is survived by his loving wife Sharon Wood (Berexa), his children: Hannah Jensen (Wood), Dylan Wood, and Hayley Wood; his parents, Thomas and Carol Wood; his brother, Tom Wood III; and his sister, Heidi Baer (Wood), and son-in-law Adam Jensen.
Sean's academic journey began with an Engineering Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, followed by a master’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder. His professional path was distinguished by a notable 20-year tenure in the software/tech industry before he established Stewardship Colorado in 2013. As a Wealth Manager and Financial Planner, Sean empowered countless individuals and families to achieve their financial aspirations.
His dedication to public service was evident during his two terms as a Clear Creek County commissioner, where he actively participated in various state boards, councils, and commissions.
Beyond his professional and civic commitments, Sean was deeply invested in his community. He served proudly on the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years and the National Ski Patrol at Winter Park for 16 years. He generously contributed his expertise to several boards, including Team Evergreen, Jefferson Center for Mental Health, and Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice.
Sean's love for outdoor adventures was unparalleled. He rowed the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon six times with family and friends and enjoyed ski touring in Revelstoke, Canada, with his children, brother, and friends. His adventurous spirit and determination also led him to complete the 500+ mile Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango three times on his mountain bike, accompanied by his brother Tom.
A celebration of Sean's life will be held this fall to honor his remarkable journey. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Colorado Trail Foundation, Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department, or American Whitewater, organizations that reflect his passion for outdoor activities and community service. Sean's legacy will continue to inspire all who were touched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others.
