Terrie passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on December 18, 2022, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Terrie was born in Des Moines Iowa on May 8, 1962. Her family moved to Colorado in the early 1970’s where Terrie attended the Clear Creek School District in Idaho Springs in the 70’s and early 80’s.
After high school, Terrie married Eric Nordine and they have two children, Amanda and Dustin.
In 1989, Terrie married Brian Farris and they lived in Clear Creek County for 33 years. They have one son, Jeff.
Terrie held jobs that included, a waitress at the King’s Derby, an associate at Coast-to-Coast Hardware, desk clerk at the Indian Hot Springs and at Harvey’s Hotel & Casino in Blackhawk Co.
In 1997, on a dare, Terrie applied for a job at the Henderson Mine in Empire Co. where she was hired and spent 20 years in numerous departments, but her favorite was the safety store where she would interact with everyone. Terrie was affectionately known as “Mama Farris” at the mine for her nurturing nature, willingness to listen with empathy and offer advice to all that wanted to share with her.
Terrie retired from the Henderson Mine in 2017 and loved spending time with her family, especially with her “grandbabies”.
Terrie had too much drive to remain fully retired, so she accepted the retail manager position in 2019 at the Idaho Springs Visitor Center in Idaho Springs Co.
Terrie enjoyed travelling, nature hikes, spending time with friends, attending Denver Bronco games, but most of all, she loved being with her family. Terrie was known for being the most positive, giving person with an infectious smile that lit up any room, and a distinctive and boisterous laugh that you could not forget.
