Barbara Ann Gray (Bobbie Stacy) passed away on March 2, 2017, at 2:15 am at the age of 86 after a long illness.
Barbara Gray is predeceased by her parents J. Earl Stacy and Verda Stacy, her sister Shirley Stacy Higdon, her son-in-law Scott Kirkland, her nephew Jay and niece Sharin.
Barbara Gray is survived by her loving husband Peter T. Gray of 66 years. They were married on September 30, 1950.
Barbara Gray is lovingly remembered by her husband Peter T. Gray, daughters, Cynthia Gray Kirkland, Stephanie (Brian) Gray Buyaki and Natalie Gray, grandchildren Tiffany Kirkland, Chris Kirkland, Bryson Kirkland, Justin Kirkland, 4 great-grandchildren, nephew Don Higdon and niece Barb Higdon.
Barbara Gray was born in Iowa on May 27, 1930. Barbara graduated from South High School in 1948 and went on to attend Denver University from 1948 to 1951.
Barbara worked on the South High School paper and was the paper’s Art Director. She also worked on the Clarian newspaper at DU. Barbara belonged to the Gamma Phi Beta sorority at DU. Peter and Barbara meet during a sorority open house on October of 1949.
After College Barbara went on to be a Stewardess at United Airlines, this was a special time in her life.
After Peter and Barbara married in 1950, Peter was in the Navy for 4 years. Peter and Barbara were stationed at various locations in the United States. After the Navy, they settled in Denver, Colorado and raised 3 daughters.
Barbara and Peter belong to a Denver-based Gourmet Group, she enjoyed cooking and was an exceptional cook.
Barbara and Peter were involved with the Independent Insurance Agents of Colorado 1957 to 1979, Barbara enjoyed attending the convention and trade group gatherings.
Barbara excelled at art and relished taking classes at the botanical gardens.
Barbara was a member of the Ladies 9-hole group at Pinehurst and she enjoyed playing golf.
